Search Engine Marketing | SEM
Search engine marketing, or SEM, is the term we use to describe various activities involved with managing pay per click advertising campaigns for our clients. Pay per click, or PPC, is a service offered by various search engines in which an advertiser, such as yourself, can purchase those "sponsored links" you often see on the top or right side of a search engine results page. MWI manages client PPC campaigns to maximize results per dollar spent. In one case, a client approached MWI and told us they were spending $20,000 per month on PPC ads and although they were getting great results they wanted to get the cost down. Based on our experience optimizing PPC campaigns we were able to reduce their ad spend to $7,000 per month while simultaneously increasing the number of leads they generated as well as the quality of those leads.

PPC Management vs. PPC Consulting
As a client of MWI's search engine marketing services you can choose from two service packages--PPC Management or PPC Consulting. PPC Management means we do it all, from account setup to creating ads, managing your ads for optimal placement and results, and providing monthly reports. PPC Consulting is generally used to facilitate a training situation wherein we work with a client's representative to setup the account, answer questions, and provide tips on an ongoing basis until the representative feels comfortable managing the process on an ongoing basis.
The choice of whether to hire MWI for PPC Management or PPC Consulting services is, of course, completely up to you. Because effective management of a PPC campaign can require anywhere from 6 to 20 hours or more per week of an employee's time, we recommend using our management services unless you have an employee who can dedicate at least a fourth of their time exclusively to managing your PPC campaign.

Search Engine Marketing Pricing
Pricing for SEM services can vary depending on the details. Managing PPC for an ecommerce site with 5,000 products will cost significantly more than for a static website that wants to create ads for 25 keywords. That said, our pricing generally ranges from $750 to $1,500 per month, depending on the details. Contracts are month to month with no long-term commitment. Note that the actual cost of the advertising that is charged by the search engines is not part of MWI's fee. Clients are charged directly by the search engines for ad click-throughs.
